Alexander Rodschenko was an russian aritist, sculptor, graphic designer and photographer and one of the founders of Constructivism.

His analytical-documentary photography was socially engaged, formally innovative and showed a painterly aesthetics. He often shot his subjects from odd angles (high above or below) to shock the viewer and to postpone recognition.

‘One has to take several different shots of a subject, from different points of view and in different situations, as if one examined it in the round rather than looking through the same keyhole again and again.’

In many pictures he is showing patterns made by shadows or buildings. My favourite photograph is ‘Stairs’ 1930.
