Stephen Gill

Stephen Gill is a British photographer. I first came across his work when his book ‘Buried’ was mentioned in a lecture about Artist’s Books. He took several photographers in Hackney Wick and buried them there. The depths that the pictures were buried and also how long they stayed under the ground varied. Not knowing what an image would look like once it was dug up introduced an element of change and surprise which he found appealing. The spirit of a place can also make its mark.

Really liked this individual artist book.
